We continue to promote diversity and inclusion at Blessed Sacrament. The mission of Pink Shirt Day is to create a more kind, inclusive world by raising awareness for anti-bullying initiatives.  Today our diversity is becoming more visible than ever as people continue to embrace their cultures, identities, and true selves in more open and direct ways. The 2024 slogan “ALL KINDS OF KINDESS” aims to spotlight that all forms of kindness contribute to building an inclusive and connected community.  Let’s have greater acceptance, respect, and inclusion for everyone!

A big thank you goes out to all the hard work and support we have received from the Knights of Columbus! They have made another generous donation towards our school playground. We are grateful for their partnership!

Ash Wednesday (February 14) – Ash Wednesday is a very special day on our liturgical calendar. It marks the start of Lent and is a chance for us to make good choices and sacrifices in order to be better citizens of our world and our Catholic Community. We will have an Ash Wednesday liturgy (including the distribution of Ashes) at 12:45 pm in the school gym. Everyone is Welcome!

Valentine’s Day (**also – February 14th**)/Shrove Tuesday   Because Valentine’s Day falls on Ash Wednesday this year, we will celebrate Valentine’s Day on Tuesday February 13th in the afternoon. This is also the same day as Shrove Tuesday so students will celebrate with pancakes in the morning and Valentine’s treats in the afternoon. A reminder for students to bring their own cutlery for pancakes. We will be supplying paper plates, pancakes and maple syrup (courtesy of parent council).

A special reminder that Valentine’s Cards and/or treats are welcome and will be distributed during the afternoon on the 13th, NOT on the 14th.  (No nut products please).  Please remember that Valentine’s Day is a fun, loving day! We are happy to celebrate our friendships and have the children expressing their care for and friendship with each other on this day.  We encourage the children to be inclusive if they are handing out Valentine cards. We do not want to see any students feeling left out or excluded.

It’s time for a new round of graduates — and scholarship opportunities from KSA. Here’s the information on our offerings for 2024:

For 2024: KSA is offering up to 5 scholarship awards with a value of $2,000 each. The application deadline is 5:00 PM Friday, April 19, 2024.

Just a reminder that this Friday Feb. 9th from 6:00-8:00 pm at Hotshot Athletic Martial Arts will be hosting a family fun-filled evening that includes a Martial Arts class, Dodgeball and Pizza! Be sure to check it out! There location is 41 Shoemaker Street, Unit #7, Kitchener.

Dear Parent/Guardians,

Please ensure your child(ren)’s vaccination record is up to date. This week we will be sending home reminders to those who do not have up to date records. These come directly from Public Health. An up-to-date vaccination record or a valid exemption for your child is required. If we do not receive this information before TUESDAY MARCH 26, 2024 at 4:30 p.m., your child will be suspended from school starting WEDNESDAY MARCH 27.

Just a reminder that Blessed Sacrament School has partnered with the Knights of Columbus to sell high quality 500 ml bottles of Maple Syrup. Bottles can be purchased on School Cash Online, as part of our current fundraiser for our School Playground.

For every bottle that is sold, the Knights of Columbus will be donating $5.00 to the school!

All orders need to be placed by tomorrow February 6th and will go home with students on Friday February 9th to be enjoyed with families on Shrove Tuesday!
