Across the region, schools are participating in Pink Shirt Day. This day was initiated by a group of high school students. A new boy to their school was being harassed for wearing a pink shirt and they did not think it was right.
They went home that night and asked their parents for money to go and buy a whole bunch of pink shirts from the local second hand store. The next morning they handed out these shirts to their schoolmates, taking a silent stand against this behaviour.
This is a great example of how there are many ways to speak up when injustice is being witnessed. We hope that students will participate, knowing the true meaning of this day.
